The Prodigal Son Among the Swine (Reproduction)
Price on Request
A recreation of the original painting by the Spanish Baroque artist Bartolomé Esteban Murillo done between 1656 and 1665, this work was inspired by the Parable of the Prodigal Son from the Bible (Luke 15:11-32). This painting illustrates the younger son from this parable, who, after recklessly squandering his wealth in distant lands, has no choice but to live feeding pigs, the furthest he could have fallen from his status. However, the son eventually returns to his father, expecting to beg for forgiveness, but is welcomed with open arms, serving an allegory for the boundless love and grace of God.
